Sofia Perina-Miller New Works 14th April – 11th May

A Russian artist now settled and working in Helensburgh, Sofia studied at a specialised art school in St Petersburg before going on to receive her degree from the University of Technology and Design. She has gained a growing reputation in Scotland and beyond with work in private collections in America, Italy and France. She is a member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists.

She has exhibited at the Glasgow Art Fair and Paisley Art Institute as well as at galleries including John Green Fine Art, the Collins Gallery and the Art Exposure Gallery. She has also exhibited at Hill House in Helensburgh showing a body of work inspired by the House environs.

Sofia’s watercolour studies are as intense as stained glass windows and display her absolute mastery of the technique. She is an expert draughtsman whether in depicting flowers or architecture. We are delighted that she is bringing new work – based on her travels in Scotland –  to the gallery at Eastwood Park Theatre.

Exhibition of works in conjunction with East Renfrewshire Department of Education

12th May – 6th June

Glasgow Society of Women Artists 7th – 30th June

Originally established in 1882 by eight of the first women students at the Glasgow School of Art, the Glasgow Society of Lady Artists flourished until 1971 when sadly it was disbanded due to financial pressures. However it was revived in 1975 as the Glasgow Society of Women Artists and currently enjoys a membership of around 140 artists and lay members.

Exhibitions form an important part of the yearly programme and are held annually in and around Glasgow. These show the high standard of GSWA members’ work in painting, sculpture, ceramics, textile art and jewellery.

The exhibition at the gallery at Eastwood Park Theatre is the Society’s first venture on this side of the river!
