About East Renfrewshire Child Protection Committee
East Renfrewshire Child Protection Committee ( ERCPC ) is made up of representatives from across the main statutory and voluntary agencies in East Renfrewshire who work with children and their families. Keeping children safe and protecting them from abuse and neglect is everyones responsibility, and the main aim of ERCPC is to work together, with the community, in ensuring vulnerable children are protected from abuse and neglect. Each local authority area in Scotland has its own Child Protection Committee with guidance on their specific roles and responsibilities contained within the Scottish Executive document: - Protecting Children A Shared Responsibility.
Representatives from each Child Protection Committee meet regularly with the Scottish Executive to discuss National Child Protection issues and policies. In East Renfrewshire the Committee usually meet every 6 weeks - 8 weeks to ensure that policies, procedures and practice in place, meets the needs of vulnerable children living in our area. In addition to the main Committee a number of sub committees take forward the decisions and work of the Committee at a local level and report to the Committee on the progress of their work
