Monitoring of applications
If you would like to make a representation on any planning application, please complete the following form, and submit. Please note that all representations are public documents, and cannot be submitted anonymously. You will receive an acknowledgement, and you will also be sent notification of the Planning Decision when the application is determined.

- Q: How long does the decision-making process on planning applications take?
- A: We have two months to determine most applications. If it is going to take longer than eight weeks to reach a decision on your application, we will inform you in writing of the reasons for the delay.
- Q: How can I get copies of the plans of my house?
- A: Contact the building firm responsible for building your house. Alternatively, if your house was built recently, you can apply to us for a copy of the plans under Freedom of Information (FoI) regulations. You can make an FoI enquiry through our "Freedom of Information" webpage.
- Q: How can I look at the planning history file for an existing building?
- A: You can either visit the Planning Service at Council Headquarters, Eastwood Park, Giffnock, or you can apply for a Property Enquiry report by contacting (0141) 577 3001. Please note that there is a charge for obtaining a Property Enquiry.
- Q: How can I find out whether planning permission has been granted for something which is currently being built?
- A: You can find out what planning permissions have been granted for a specific address by phoning our Customer Services team on (0141) 577 3001.
- Q: How is a decision on a planning application made?
- A: Straightforward applications are processed by our Development Control section. More controversial applications are decided by the Planning Applications Committee, and in some instances by the Scottish Ministers.
