Applications, warrants and certificates

Our Development Control section receives over 1,000 planning applications per year, approximately 70% of which relate to householder applications.

Our service standards

• We will offer you the opportunity to discuss your proposals with us and will offer professional advice before you submit a planning application.

• We will normally issue a decision on a householder planning application within eight weeks of receipt of a valid application.

• We will inform you in writing of the reasons for delay, where an application is going to exceed the eight-week period.

• We will make copies of current planning applications available for interested parties to view in local libraries, as well as in Council Headquarters, Eastwood Park and / or Council Offices in Main Street, Barrhead, depending upon the location of the application.

• We will make available a weekly list of valid planning applications received, on East Renfrewshire Council's website.

• We will acknowledge all letters of representation relating to current planning applications. We will advise you of the outcome of the application as soon as it is determined, and will enclose a copy of the report and a copy of the planning decision.

• We will commence investigation of all complaints about unauthorised developments as quickly as possible and will provide a detailed response to you within 15 days.
