Pest control
The Councils Protective Services Division responds to requests from the public to deal with most types of pest found within and around the home, such as ants, wasps, cockroaches, fleas, mice and rats. The council does not treat squirrels, birds, rabbits, moles or bats (which are protected) as they generally do not pose a risk to public health. The service will however, provide free advice on dealing with any pest in and around the home.
There is no charge for dealing with rats or mice but there is a charge for common intruder insects such as wasps, bees or ants. Advice on dealing with any pest is provided free of charge. East Renfrewshire Council's Pest Control Charges, can be found via the link on the right hand side of this page.
We aim to respond to your request within one working day. During summertime when requests reach their peak, it may take slightly longer to carry out treatment but we will always endeavour to treat pests as quickly as possible. If the problem is outside such as a wasp’s byke (nest), you do not have to be there but, for security and insurance reasons, we will not go into a house without the householder, or their representative, being present.
