Tree preservation orders
East Renfrewshire is committed to safeguarding the tree cover within the area. Certain areas are covered by Tree Preservation Order’s (TPO’s). If trees are covered by TPO you require the consent of the Council.

- A: A Tree Preservation Order (TPO) is a device used by Planning authorities to protect existing trees or woodland in the interests of amenity because the local council considers they contribute to the area. It means you are not allowed to lop or prune a tree with a TPO unless you have obtained permission from us.

- A: You can contact the Planning Officer (Development Plans) on (0141) 577 3052 or at planning@eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk. Alternatively, you can check the Local Plan Proposals Map on our Planning web pages: use the map key to find out how areas covered by a TPO are identified.
