Finding health and wellbeing information at your local library
Your library offers a wide range of practical guides to help reduce stress levels and improve overall health. Ranging from alternative and natural health remedies, to self-help programmes and exercise regimes, you’ll be sure to find a book that suits your needs.
There’s also a full selection of books designed to help you face some of life’s toughest moments: bereavement, serious illness, redundancy, divorce, debt and family problems.
Online resources
In addition to My Health, East Renfrewshire Library service offers free access to a range of electronic reference databases. You can use these databases on your own computer as well as in the library, but you will in most cases need to log in with your library card number first.
These include:
- Encyclopaedia Britannica
- Encyclopaedia Britannica Junior
- Encyclopaedia Britannica Student
- News UK allows full text searching of all UK national newspapers and a selection of local papers. Also includes the Spectator, the Economist and the New Statesman.
- Know UK provides information on every aspect of living in the United Kingdom - from current political debate to finding a local doctor or school.
