East Renfrewshire Council has a specific legal duty towards homeless people.
The Council has to provide advice and assistance to anyone who is homeless or threatened with homelessness.
If you make a homeless application and you have nowhere else to stay, the Council will offer temporary accommodation until they have investigated your circumstances and made a final decision. Call the number above to make an appointment with a homeless officer.

Shelter can advise on a wide range of housing problems – homelessness, rent arrears, tenancy disputes – and can sometimes represent you at court.

Works with ethnic minority groups to secure good quality, affordable and safe homes. They can help if you:
- have problems asking for help because English is not your first language?
- are experiencing racial harassment
- live in a house that's too small for your needs
- have problems with your landlord
- live in a council/housing association property, which needs repairs
- feel isolated and would you prefer to live closer to your own community, shops and places of worship
- want to apply for a Housing Association or a Council house but are not sure of how to do it
