Forums and Community Councils
If you feel strongly about an issue or simply want to improve your local area, committees groups and forums are a great place to start.
Area Forums
Area Forums are chaired by a local councillor. Each has control of a small budget to carry out small-scale projects locally like dropped kerbs, improved lighting and additional play facilities.
Forums also discuss other services like police and health care. They also are important in highlighting the view of local people when it comes to community planning.
There are area forums for the following:
- Barrhead, Neilston, Uplawmoor and Mearns North
- Giffnock, Thornliebank, Netherlee, Stamperland and Williamwood
- Newton Mearns South, Busby, Clarkston and Eaglesham
A range of different forums meet to discuss key issues affecting local people. Along with local area forums, you can also be involved with disability, senior and multi-faith forums.
