Consultation and feedback

The East Renfrewshire Local Housing Strategy aims, through consultation and partnership working, to ensure that there is a choice of good quality housing across all tenures that matches peoples needs and aspirations, is affordable, well maintained, warm, dry and secure; set in vibrant local communities that are safe and sustainable. The LHS is a living document, reflecting the dynamic nature of the housing market and the changing nature of peoples’ housing needs, which has been put together through an extensive process of consultation. The involvement of stakeholders and partners throughout the development process has been in realisation that the problems and needs of the people of East Renfrewshire cannot be tackled effectively by departments or organisations which are working in isolation from each other or from the community.

The LHS process has encouraged the involvement of partners, stakeholders and the community in the development of this strategy. The consultation process has ensured all participants involved have a better understanding of the issues and that they have to work together to find solutions. This engagement and the networks built throughout the process will aid the successful implementation of the LHS Action Plan.

A number of working groups, which are inclusive of a range of stakeholders, contributed to the development and the LHS and continue to actively progress the work of the LHS. These include:

  • East Renfrewshire Housing Providers Forum;

  • Affordable Housing Working Group;

  • East Renfrewshire Fuel Poverty Working Group

  • Scottish Best Value Network; and

  • Glasgow and Clyde Valley Local Housing Group

A range of methods are used on an ongoing basis to inform and consult a wide range of stakeholders, on developments in housing and related strategies. These will continue to be used to involve stakeholders in the development and implementation of the local housing strategy over its lifetime. Other opportunities for engagement will be identified as they emerge, and best use of these will be considered. Below is a list of some of the consultation methods used:

  • ER magazine;

  • Internet;

  • Regeneration Initiatives;

  • Barriers and Bridges Annual Event;

  • Tenants Conference;

  • LHS Update Consultation Event;

  • Customer Feedback; and

  • Housing Developers.
