Licences and registration

East Renfrewshire Licensing Board is put together under the terms of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 1976 and the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005. We handle the administration of liquor licensing and other statutory duties, such as bookmaker’s permits, betting office licences, AWP (gaming machines) permits and Bingo licences.

The Board is made up of five councillor members. However our administrative work, including the grant of various temporary licences, is undertaken on a daily basis under powers delegated to the Clerk and Depute Clerk of the Licensing Board. Notices of our Board meetings will be posted on the Council's website.

All income received by the Board from the fees on licence applications is transferred to the Council and is used to administer the liquor licensing system. The Council has a duty to provide accommodation for our meetings, and all necessary expenses relating to our proceedings. All employees carrying out our responsibilities are appointed and employed by the Council.
