Managing Asbestos in Premises

Legislation designed to manage and control the risks which may arise from asbestos came into force on the 21st of May 2006. Anyone who owns, occupies, manages or is obliged to repair non domestic premises should establish whether there is any asbestos material within the premises and what condition it is in.

There is a requirement in these circumstances to keep a register of the location of asbestos containing materials or presumed asbestos containing materials, together with details of how you intend to manage and control the risks which may arise from asbestos.

Further information can be found on the Health and safety executive website . Please contact Environmental Services on 0141 577 3782 or e-mail if you have any further queries.
