AT COURT
The District Courthouse at Braidholm Road, Giffnock is open every Friday (except on Court holidays) until all of the court business is finished for that particular day. Sometimes, if trials continue to the afternoon, there will be an adjournment for approximately one hour at lunch time.
WHEN YOU COME TO COURT YOU WILL FIND:-
- Clearly marked information points.
- Clear Signs to help you find your way around.
- Lists of business to be seen displayed clearly on a notice board.
- Clean and comfortable accommodation.
- Separate waiting rooms for prosecution witnesses and defence witnesses with measures in place to try to prevent any witness being threatened in any way.
- Sufficient clean toilets.
- Where possible, disabled access to the main public areas (please advise the Clerk's Office in advance if you require disabled access).
- Written guidance, and facilities for taking notes, for accused persons who do not have someone to speak for them.
- Guidance leaflets about court procedures, including complaints about the District Court service.

If you write to the court
When you write to East Renfrewshire District Court, the Court will:-
Write to you or phone you within 7 working days. Explain things helpfully in plain English and avoid using difficult legal words. Tell you who is writing and how to contact that person. IF YOU COME TO THE PUBLIC COUNTER
When you come to the District Court public counter at Council Headquarters, Eastwood Park , East Renfrewshire District Court will:-
Provide polite and helpful staff who will treat you with courtesy and respect Make sure that a trained member of staff assists you promptly.

If you phone the court
You can phone the East Renfrewshire District Court on (0141 577 3021) from 8.45am to 4.45pm Monday to Thursday and from 8.45 to 3.55pm on Fridays.
When you phone East Renfrewshire District Court, the staff will:-
- Try to answer your call within 30 seconds.
- Give a clear and helpful answer if the person you need to speak to is unavailable.
- Suggest a suitable time when the person is likely to be available or arrange to have the person return your call.
District Court Staff can give you information about how things are done, but they cannot give you legal advice.
Court Complaints
East Renfrewshire District Court uses the Council's Corporate complaints procedure. You should ask for a leaflet explaining the procedure or you can obtain a copy at the court.
East Renfrewshire District Court will always treat your complaint seriously and fairly and try to deal with problem there and then; and will try to respond to written complaints as soon as possible in line with the complaints procedure of the local authority.
Please remember that East Renfrewshire District Court can not look into complaints about decisions made by Justices.
