Employer led training
The East Renfrewshire worker Training Centre offers many training opportunities in various areas of construction and horticulture. In recent years the centre has had some extremely successful projects working in partnership with local employers such as George Leslie Ltd, Boss Fire Protection and Caulders Garden Centres.
In each case the employer and the training centre developed some bespoke training packages which trained all the trainees to the standards the employers wanted. All of the training is job based, all aimed at developing practical skills and certification to enable trainees to be ready for the job offer.
The trainees were paid the national minimum wage while they were training and once selected for the training they are guaranteed the job available.
During the training period additional support is offered, where required, with whatever is stopping someone being able to take up a job offer.

Over this and the following year there are many more projects coming up which will follow the same lines as these employers led projects. The projects are all working with East Renfrewshire council and they all offer work based training and great opportunities to gain certificates to make you more able to gain work in the future.
The opportunity to apply for council jobs is also strong if you are chosen for these training opportunities.

Rural skills training
East Renfrewshire Council is involved in several exciting parkland projects which offer some great training opportunities. These include; Dams to Darnley Country Park, Whitelee Forrest, and Fereneze Braes.Close cleaning & Grass cutting for the Housing Department
Hanging baskets maintenance for the Schools Vocational Programme
General construction for Environment department
Garden maintenance for Environment department
