Allocation system
This is the second allocation policy to be introduced by East Renfrewshire Council. As part of this review process, considerable discussion took place with staff from housing and from other services, elected members andrepresentatives from all of East Renfrewshire communities.

- Q: How does the housing points system work?
- A: Our housing points system is based on need. You are awarded points for many different circumstances, such as overcrowding or if you have a medical priority.
- Q: Under what circumstances would I be eligible for extra housing points?
- A: Points are awarded based on need, such as overcrowding or medical requirements. If your circumstances change, tell our Housing Office staff on (0141) 577 3001, and they will recalculate your points accordingly.
- Q: What sort of things can I get extra housing points for?
- A: You can get extra housing points for things such as medical reasons, overcrowding or how long you've been on the waiting list. Contact our Housing Office on (0141) 577 3001 for more information.
- Q: Will I get points for being homeless?
- A: If you are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless, you should get in touch with our Homelessness team on (0141) 577 3001 immediately for advice and assistance. You will be given priority need for housing in our points system.
- Q: Do I get more housing points the longer I've been on the council's housing waiting list?
- A: Yes, you will get points for the time that you are on our housing waiting list.
