Council housing
We carry out an extensive programme of improvements and modernisation to council housing throughout the year, in order to bring properties up to modern day standards. We participate in thorough consultations with tenants before starting any work.
Improvements generally include:
Rewiring
New UPVC windows
New external doors
New kitchen units
New bathroom fittings
Energy efficiency measures
In addition, if you are a council house tenant, you can choose work up to a certain monetary value. This can include:
Kitchen or bathroom flooring
Internal doors
Structural alterations to the layout of the property
Scottish Housing Quality Standard (SHQS)
In order to meet the new Scottish Housing Quality Standard by 2015, all East Renfrewshire Council houses are being modernised to include new kitchens, bathrooms and doors, along with lead free pipe-work, re-wiring (where required) and new windows (where required).
The current Housing Services Capital Programmes are working their way through the housing stock and have agreed dates for the improvements to be carried out.
