Council tax - banding

The Council Tax for your home is calculated based on the value of your property. *The value of your property (band) will be outlined in your Bill.

The value of your property is decided by the assessor from the Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board (Scottish Assesors website).  The band reflects the Assessor’s opinion of the property’s open market value as at the 1 April 1991.

Council Tax bills also include charges made by Scottish Water for water and sewerage services. The charge for this part of the Council Tax bill is set by the water authority (www.scottishwater.co.uk). The Council is legally required to collect these charges but retains none of the income.

Council Tax Charges 2008/2009 (From 1 April 2008)

The Council has just announced a Council Tax freeze for 2008/9. Therefore the Council Tax charges will remain the same as last year. Please note that the Water and Sewerage Charges which are set by Scottish Water will increase by 3.7%.
