Dams to Darnley Country Park
In partnership with Glasgow City Council, East Renfrewshire Council is developing a new Country Park called Dams to Darnley, encompassing approximately 550 hectares of greenspace between Barrhead, Parkhouse, Nitshill and Newton Mearns. The Barrhead Dams are the most striking feature within the Country Park, but the area also includes Darnley Mill and Waulkmill Glen. There are areas of woodland, whilst much of the Country Park remains as working farmland.
Through a series of improvements on the ground the Country Park will provide recreational opportunities and facilities on land and water and conserve, enhance and manage the area’s natural and built heritage. In addition it will also look to explore opportunities for business development and promote learning and training.
The Country Park is led by a Joint Committee made up of local councillors from both East Renfrewshire and Glasgow City. Click here to find out more about the (Dams to Darnley Joint Committee), including meetings, agendas and minutes
