Racial Abuse Reporting Form
Lord MacPherson’s report on the handling of the Stephen Lawrence murder enquiry made over 70 recommendations, one of which was the introduction of Third Party reporting for Race hate or similar type crimes. Strathclyde Police offers Third Party Reporting of such crimes and incidents.
In East Renfrewshire the local police Community Safety Department are responsible for this. Third party reporting was launched in partnership with East Renfrewshire Council at the Barriers and Bridges Conference 2006, held at Mearns Castle high School on 30 November.
The attached form allows you to submit details of this type of incident to the police. The information will only be shared with statutory agencies and voluntary bodies who work with Strathclyde Police to deal with these issues.
If you do not wish the information shared with other agencies, your decision will be respected unless there is a legal responsibility or an overwhelming need to share the information for the public good. Should you not wish the matter taken any further, as a service it is still important to have accurate information to tackle this issue.
This method of receipt should not be used for an ongoing or urgent incident, in that instance please telephone: 0141 532 5700.
