Security cameras (CCTV)
East Renfrewshire's CCTV Safety Net system has been helping the police to address criminal behaviour throughout the district since 1998. Now based at Thornliebank, it remains central to the safe communities action plan ‘All Together Safely’.
CCTV Response Vehicle
Since 2003, we have worked together with Levern Valley Partnership and Strathclyde Police to provide a vehicle manned by two police officers, which responds to incidents identified by the CCTV operators. The Response Vehicle covers peak hours and tackles issues such as:
Vandalism
Disorder
Graffiti
Street crime
The CCTV Response Unit attends and monitors activity at local ‘hotspots’. These are areas of particular concern that have been identified by Councillors in response to public complaints, and recorded by the police as ‘standing complaints’. This extra attention aims to break up anti-social behaviour, such as youth disorder and under-age drinking.
